Does a Hana circle-island-style tour go around Maui?

A Hana circle island tour will go all the way around Haleakala, which makes up about ¾ of the island. The route will follow the lower slopes of the mountain on a journey that circles it completely. You will experience the high country slopes of Kula all the way down to a gravel road that is crumbling into the ocean in Kaupo. A circle island tour of Hana will allow you to see the most variety of sites the island has to offer. The tour guide will make a lot of stops but you will have less time at each than a tour that goes out to Hana and back again on the Hana Highway.
What are the self-guided options for the road to Hana?

There are a ton of different CD's, APP's, games, books, maps, videos, and podcasts of how to explore the road to Hana and maximize your enjoyment for a day (or more). Some of them are definitely better than others. The best option to explore Hana is to take a guided tour. They will make sure you get a reservation at Waianapanapa State Park, food for the day and even a pickup at your hotel if you need it. Support the local economy and the many family businesses that rely on local tour companies.
What does taking a small group tour mean?

A small-group tour means there are 12 or fewer guests on your tour. Some of the large group tours will seat between 15 and 18 people. We recommend the best road to Hana tour is one where you are most comfortable. Active travelers can handle the cheaper larger group buses while our older guests enjoy the more comfortable, wider seats of our small group tours.
Can I go swimming in a waterfall pool?

There are a few locations along the road to Hana where tour guests will be able to go for a swim in a natural freshwater pool with a waterfall. Depending on weather that day, your guide will choose an excellent place for your group to enjoy the water. They may even go for a dip too! For those going on your own, please be sure to park in the designated spots. Not all pools that look good are good for swimming. Always check the local weather before hiking too far up the gulches.
What does a typical half-day tour include?

So you should make it out to Keanae Peninsula and back again if you are on a sightseeing tour. Going halfway to Hana tends to be about a 5-6 hour adventure from Kahului. Full Hana tours are between 10 and 12 hours long. For guests looking for a ½ day hiking tour, you will hike at one or two of the trails near the beginning of the road to Hana. They lead to beautiful waterfall pools. A half-day tour will include beautiful waterfalls and pools. Enough of a winding road with plenty of great ocean overlooks to satisfy your base desire. We will even visit some wonderful rainbow eucalyptus trees.
